Unit Name: Maintenance Practices - Avionics 1

Description: This module provides the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to solder and desolder electronic components, connectors and terminate electrical cables using soldering techniques. It will also provide the student with the knowledge and understanding of circuit protection and electrical control devices.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this module, students will be able to: a) Describe the principles of the soldering process. b) Demonstrate correct soldering techniques and describe the equipment used. c) Identify and describe the operation of various circuit controls and overload protection devices. d) Describe Identify circuit symbols for the circuit protection and circuit control devices. e) State the precautions, limitation and uses for the circuit protection and circuit control devices. f) Describe, using appropriate terminology, the operation of the circuit protection and circuit control devices.
