Unit Name: AC Maintenance Practices (General)

Description: The purpose of this module is to introduce students to general maintenance information on tools, tooling and documentation involving aircraft servicing, design and repair.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this module, students will be able to; 1. Describe a typical Quality System and differentiate the elements which constitute the system. 2. Interpret information from a range of industry manuals and documents. 3. Interpret information from drawings, diagrams and charts used in aircraft engineering. 4. Describe faults in hand tools that may be found in an aircraft engineering workshop or hangars. 5. Explain the safe operation of general power tools. 6. Describe Aircraft fastening devices, Bearings and Gears. 7. Use measuring tools correctly and accurately. 8. Describe removal, replacement tightening, torquing, and tensioning techniques as used in aircraft engineering. 9. Identify aircraft hardware from markings, part numbers, size, shape and material. 10. Describe the maintenance procedures for gears used in aircraft engineering.
