Unit Name: Agronomy of Field Crops
Description: The purpose of this unit is to provide information and understanding on agronomy of major crops of Fiji including origin, geographic distribution, economic importance, soil and climatic requirements, field preparation, sowing/planting, fertilizer management, weed and irrigation management, harvesting and storage. This course will include cereal, pulse, oil seed , fibre, sugar , root , tuber, plantation ,biofuel and forage and fodder crops. This will also include study and understanding ethical issue in crop production, fertilizers and agro-chemical use in agriculture.
