Unit Name: Soil and Water Resource Eng

Description: This unit will introduce the students to the importance of soil and water resources in Fijian agriculture, correct utilisation of these resources and their conservation. The students will gain an understanding of the soil - plant -water relationship and its importance in agriculture. Topics covered in this unit range from soil formation, soil texture, soil structure, soil profiles, types of weathering agents, macro and micro plant nutrients, soil erosion, soil conservation, importance of water cycle and watershed management, water quality and methods of applying water on the farm for crop production.
