Unit Name: Integrated Farming Practice A

Description: This unit will enable students to develop and focus their understanding of integrated farming and sustainable agriculture, through the basic understanding of Soil Science and the Production of High-Value crops and their production systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: 1. Identify and appreciate the importance of Agriculture and its contribution to Fiji Development to date. 2. Demonstrate the importance of Soil by the practice basic Soil Sampling Techniques and soil pH testing and Soil moisture testing. 3. Relating the importance of Soil Textural Classification to soil moisture and Irrigation Practices. 4. Apply knowledge of Soil basic soil testing and relating to Production of high value crops (Irrigation and required fertilizer application).
