Unit Name: Farm Mechanization & Machinery

Description: This course will provide a theoretical and practical understanding on the role farm power and application of farm machinery in agricultural production. The typical learning activities include the traditional hand tools and animal power in Fiji, appropriate technology and mechanization, and the associated gender, social, environmental, economic and sustainability issues. The students will gain a general understanding of the purpose, process and operating principles of tractors and agricultural machinery. The students will develop operational and basic maintenance skills for agricultural operations and machinery plus basic workshop skills.
