Unit Name: Lodging Management and Operations

Description: This course is designed to provide an operational overview of the lodging industry. It is structured to be of interest to all learners regardless of intended areas of future career specialization. This course introduces students to Lodging Operations locally and internationally. Students will be able to gain an understanding of the career, business, and investment opportcourseies available in the lodging industry. Students will also be able to develop an appreciation of the importance of Lodging as a leading business sector of the global economy. Students will be encouraged to appreciate the intricate organizational, societal, economic and environmental impacts of the lodging industry. In addition, students will also study the management components and business operations standards of the lodging industry. It will enable students to understand the strategic interdisciplinary relationship of lodging within the overall Tourism and Hospitality industry. Students throughout the internship programmeme are required to develop their own leadership styles consistent with a Certificate, Diploma and Degree level qualification.
