Unit Name: International Corporate Reporting

Description: International Corporate Accounting - This unit is concerned with corporate financial reporting as required by company law as well as the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), formerly known as International Accounting Standards (IAS). The unit will consider the specific reporting requirements under company law and its relationship with accounting standards. Students will then be introduced to the standard setting process. Completion of the unit will enable participants to understand the impact of the adoption of IFRS on both company financial reporting and implications for the decision usefulness of published company financial statements. The unit will also examine the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB?s) philosophy underlying the international accounting standards as well as the technical requirements of IFRS.
