Programme Description | The course is essentially theory and practical and consists of a series of exercises performed on a GMDSS simulator and live equipment’s. This course is in pursuant to Regulation I/9 of the Maritime (STCW Convention) Regulation 2014. It is designed to check, refresh and update the knowledge and skills of Deck Officers operating GMDSS equipment’s required for Sea Area A1. General Provision A- A seafarer who was issued a GMDSS training certificate under the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended, and has no accumulated sea service performing functions appropriate to the certificate held for a period of at least one (1) year in total for the preceding five (5) year shall be required to attend a refresher course. General Provision B- A seafarer who is a holder of GMDSS Radio Operator certificate and has no accumulated sea service performing functions appropriate to the certificate held for a period of at least one (1) year in total for the preceding five (5) years shall be required to attend a refresher course prior issuance of revalidated certificate. |
Minimum Requirement | • The applicant shall not be less than 18 years of age at the time of closing applications. • Those who hold GMDSS – ROC, duly issued by the Administration, i.e. MSAF. |
