Programme Description
The course is essentially theory and practical and consists of a series of exercises performed on a GMDSS simulator and live equipment’s. This course is in pursuant to Regulation I/11 of the STCW 1978 as amended. It is designed to check and update the knowledge and skills of Deck Officers pertaining to GMDSS.
General Provision A- 
A seafarer who was issued a GMDSS training certificate under the 1978 STCW Convention, as amended, and has no accumulated sea service performing functions appropriate to the certificate held for a period of at least one (1) year in total for the preceding five (5) year shall be required to attend a refresher course.
General Provision B-
A seafarer who is a holder of GMDSS Radio Operator certificate and has no accumulated sea service performing functions appropriate to the certificate held for a period of at least one (1) year in total for the preceding five (5) years shall be required to attend a refresher course prior issuance of revalidated certificate.

Minimum Requirement
•	The applicant shall not be less than 18 years of age at the time of closing applications
•	Those who hold GMDSS – GOC, duly issued by the Administration, i.e. MSAF.
