Programme Name Refresher Course for Advanced Safety Training
Programme Description
This course is designed to fulfill the requirements of STCW 1978 Convention as amended in 2010 with respect to this “Basic Training” Refresher requirement. It is designed to give the individual a level of knowledge beyond simple vessel familiarization for those seafarers who have basic and advanced safety training.
The convention requires that certificate to be revalidated every five years, and to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3, A-VI/1-4, A-VI-2-1, & A-VI/3 of the Convention.
The combined course will enable seafarers to revalidate their safety certificates in accordance with the STCW 1978 Convention as amended as per Section A-VI/1 paragraph 3, Section A-VI/2 paragraph 5, A-VI-3 paragraph 5.
Minimum Requirement
•	Applicant must be of at least 18 years of age 
•	Must provide evidence of previously completed Advanced Safety Training Certificates
•	If the Advanced Safety Training certificates are expired, then the applicant must either; 
­	 - Have accumulated approved sea going service on the preceding five years of not less than 12 months; OR 
­	-  Have accumulated approved sea going service on the preceding six months of not less than 3 months. 
•	Must be medically fit enough to participate in exercises
