This course covers the mandatory minimum requirements as set out under Regulation II/4, Sec. A-II/4 and Table A-II/4 of STCW ’78, as amended. The course learning objective is in accordance with the requirements of knowledge, understanding and proficiency which allows every rating forming part of a navigational watch on a seagoing ship of 500 gross tonnage or more to demonstrate the competence to perform the navigation function at the support level.
The participant who successfully complete the course are eligible to appear for the Certificate of Competency of ratings as Deck Watch Rating examination conducted by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF).

•	The candidate shall not be less than 18 years of age.
•	Hold Basic Safety Training Certificate.
•	Have 6 months of seagoing experience.
