Programme Description

This module specifies the competency required to carry out excavation for footings and foundation to strip, pad or isolated footings. The underpinning knowledge and skills required to carry out excavations by hand, assisting excavation operators includes specific details on - Setting out excavation to location site, select tools and equipment, dig excavation and Installation of supports if required to the trench sides having loose soil strata. Basic calculation is included to calculate the volume of spoils excavated which is linked to calculate the cost for cartage of spoils per number of trips made by a truck.
