Programme Description

The competencies in this module deals with the knowledge and skills required to assist qualified trade persons in the welding and fabrication industry.The module utilises competency based approaches to measure trainee outcomes.This hands-on module will provide an understanding of machine set up, personal and shop safety, flat positional welding and vertical welding. MIG welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding of aluminum is easily done and only requires a little extra equipment and skills. Aluminum welds very well with MIG and it is best used on thicker materials that are in the flat position. The competencies  encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of the National  Qualification for Welding and Fabrication.

Course Learnings

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to deposit fillet and butt welds for the fabrication and 
repair of aluminium using GMAW process,  This course is designed to build on the skills covered 
in Gas Metal Arc Welding 1,
