Programme Description

The competencies in this module deals with the knowledge and skills required to assist qualified trade persons in the welding and fabrication industry.  The module utilises competency based approaches to measure trainee outcomes. MIG welding of stainless steel has many of the same characteristics as a carbon steel weld. In reality welding stainless steel could only be done until welding of carbon steel is mastered. The process, equipment, and techniques for MIG welding stainless steel are almost the same as for carbon steel.The competencies  encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of the National  Qualification for Welding and Fabrication.

Course Learnings

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to deposit fillet and butt welds for the fabrication and repair of 
stainless steel using GMAW process,
