Programme Description
This course is designed to meet the requirements of participants in safe working practices for refrigeration and air conditioning workers.  It covers the various operating parameters of a refrigeration system. The participants will be learn the  function and construction of enthalpy diagrams, calculate the refrigeration effect, heat of compression and specific volume. The participants will be able to identify the effects of various refrigeration faults, test compressor efficiency, identify types of coupling and explain proper alignment techniques and types of capacity controls used in a system. The competencies encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of the National Qualification for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade
Course Learnings
To construct a pressure enthalpy diagram and plot specific given points
To calculate the operating capacity of HVAC systems
To identify the effect of various refrigeration fault conditions using pressure enthalpy chart
To explain the principles and operating methods of testing compressor efficiency and the requirements for good heat exchanges
To identify the different drive methods, calculate the change in speed and explain the techniques used in belt alignment
