Programme Description
 This course is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills to work with refrigerant flow controls and valves.  The course also covers metering devices, actuators, dampers, accurators and high and low side floats. Participants will also learn about hand expansion valves, automatic expansion valves, thermostatic expansion valves and distributors. The competencies encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of the National Qualification for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade.

Describe the purpose of a refrigerant flow control in basic refrigeration system; including both liquid and vapour flow controls,
Describe the function of the various refrigerant metering devices commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, 
Understand the operating principles of various fixed orifice refrigerant metering devices commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Understand the operating principles of various float operated refrigerant metering devices and expansion valve types commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Describe the function, operation and application of vapour flow controls, reversing valves and solenoid valves,
