Course Name | Problem Solving Techniques |
---|---|
Department | Department of National Productivity and Industry Innovation |
Programme Description | Organizations often respond to problems with short-term solutions. However, constantly relying on quick fixes requires staff to repeat the same tasks over and over again, all the while maintaining the status qou. Focusing on the short term solutions is not the recipe for increased profitability and organizational growth. To improve efficiency and profitability, we need to look beneath the surface to the root of a problem or issue. By observing the effect (which is really just the symptom) of a problem and deducing what has caused it to occur, you can create a preventative solution that should put an end to the problem. The purpose of this program is to provide the participant practical skills, knowledge and confidence to solve problems using a few problem solving techniques. And also understand that problems can be solved by taking a structured approach (making sure that the problem never happens again). This program will specifically focus on the different problem techniques and aims to address the basic problem solving gaps in organizations. |
Course Learnings | Describe the process of problem solving and principles of root cause analysis , Distinguish current problem solving and innovative thinking styles , Understand the process of diagnosing and structuring problems before solving them , Apply and integrate thinking tools, techniques and strategies for finding solution , Apply basic quality tools in the problem solving process , Determine efficient corrective action plans. |
