Programme Description
The Postgraduate Diploma in Family Medicine aims to equip doctors with the core knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for high level primary medical care.  Candidates are qualified doctors working in primary health settings such as general practice clinics, hospital outpatient departments and health centres.  The programme is conducted via online webinars and weekend workshops, to allow candidates to continue their clinical work.  The programme will form the first and pre-requisite year for the Master of Family Medicine, which will provide training to specialist level.

Minimum Requirement
1. MBBS degree or equivalent
2. Successful completion of internship
3. Further two years of clinical experience post-internship, including one year of experience working in a primary care setting
4. Appropriate medical registration 
5. Employment in a primary care setting for the duration of the programme. This employment should include a minimum of 16 hours of clinical contact per week, an average minimum patient load of 45 consultations per week and cover a breadth of common primary care presentations.  Evidence of appropriate employment will be required, for example a letter from the candidate’s workplace supervisor.
