Bula and Welcome to the Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies page.
The Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies (PCMS) has a rich history within Fiji’s maritime training landscape. Since the establishment of the Fiji National University in 2010, PCMS was previously a school within the College of Engineering Science and Technology (CEST).
The Academy became a separate centre within FNU in 2021 and continues to provide quality maritime training and education in Fiji.
Students can be assured that all programmes offered at PCMS are approved by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) for compliance with Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) as amended. This ensures that the students trained at PCMS are qualified to serve onboard any ship across the globe.
Every year, the Academy trains local, as well as regional students, who aspire to become seafarers of the future soaring the high seas worldwide.
FMA currently offers seafarer certification programmes from support to operational level. The Academy boasts of state-of-the-art Maritime Full mission bridge simulators, Engine room simulators, ECDIS, GMDSS and liquid cargo handling simulators to provide students with practical training and ensure they are day one workforce-ready to serve anywhere in the world.
