Degree Works FAQs

What is Degree Works?
Degree Works is an online advising tool to help you and your advisor monitor your progress toward degree completion. Degree Works matches your coursework (completed, currently enrolled, or registered for in the future) to your degree requirements in an easy-to-read worksheet that shows how the courses count toward degree requirements.

Can I register for classes in DegreeWorks?
No. DegreeWorks is a snapshot of courses in-progress, planned, and in academic history. Registration and adding/dropping of Courses are still handled through the registration function in Student Self Service.

I just registered for my classes. Why aren’t they showing up on my audit?
If you have just registered for courses, the new audit will not show the updated courses until the next day. The program has to run overnight before it will reflect the changes.

Can I see a list of all of the classes I’ve taken?
Yes. Click on the “Class History” link at the top for a printable list of courses taken.

Are my grades visible in DegreeWorks?
Yes. Once grades have been processed at the end of the semester, they are viewable in DegreeWorks. Courses in-progress are listed with a grade of “IP.”

Is DegreeWorks a transcript or an official evaluation?
No. DegreeWorks is an audit of your progress toward graduation, as well as an outline of requirements still needed to complete your program of study. Final evaluations are completed by the College Examination Board and verified by Office of the Registrar.

How is my degree audit different from my transcript?
Your degree audit is a tool to provide you with academic information related to your degree progress. It displays courses required and completed in your degree program. Your transcript is your official university academic record and provides a chronological list of courses completed and other academic
Information.

What does the @ symbol mean?
This is a wild card in Degree Works. For example, if the @ sign is followed by Course numbers (LNG 5@), it means that you may take any 500 level LNG Course.

How can I see what would be requirement if I am thinking of changing my major?
You can use the “What-If” option on the Audits tab to create an audit based on requirements for the program you are interested in. Be sure to select a Degree, Catalog term and Major. What-If audits do not guarantee that you will be able to major in the area you select. If you decide you’d like to change your major, contact the College Academic Advisor of the new major for information and instructions.

How will courses that I have substituted or waived appear on the degreeworks evaluation?
This information will be entered after your substitution or waiver has been approved and submitted to Office of the Registrar. Once processed the course that you substituted will automatically be used to fulfill the requirement that was specified. You will see that course listed on the evaluation.

Who should I contact if I still have questions or disagree with the audit?
First review the University Catalog for the most recent course requirements for your academic program. Second contact your College Academic advisor. After consulting with him or her, if you still believe there are errors, contact Office of the Registrar Ph: 339 4000| Ext: 2402 | Email: admission@fnu.ac.fj.
