More than 150 students of Lautoka Muslim College obtained information about study opportunities as well as interacted with academic experts in ‘real-time’ during Fiji National University’s (FNU) first-ever Virtual Open Day.

Careers Coordinator, Navneet Sharma, while acknowledging FNU’s initiative stated students acquired important information as they look towards their academic future.

“It is an easy and convenient way to share important information with students,” said Sharma.

“While students enjoyed attending Open Days on Campus, some missed out. Through the virtual mode, we can get more students to participate in this exercise.”

“Virtual Open Day is convenient and safe. The students can get the same volume of information in the safe surrounding of their school and classroom,” said Sharma.

The interaction session was a success, according to Sharma, and the school did not face any significant difficulties during the live question and answer session.

“The students were furnished with all the required information. The FNU representatives in live Q & A session were very helpful. They emailed all the information about the full –range of undergraduate programmes, which we provided for our year 12 and 13 students to understand and make wise career choices,” he said.

Students had several questions relating to minimum entry requirements for bachelors programme, TVET programmes, availability of accommodations facilities and the enrolment details at the University.

Sharma said that the videos uploaded on the FNU website was sufficient and well presented for the young minds to make informed career choices.

“Our students were amazed at the standard of presentation and opportunities offered at FNU,” said Sharma.

The FNU Virtual Open Day live question and answer is scheduled until Friday 21 August. Virtual Q & A sessions are scheduled between 10.00am  to 11.00am, 2.00pm to 3.00pm and 5.00pm to 6.00pm each day.
