LOMAIVUNA, NAITASIRI – As part of the 2025 enrolment campaign, a team from Fiji National University’s College of Engineering, Technology, and Vocational Education and Training (CETVET) held an outreach session in Lomaivuna, Naitasiri last Friday.
The session targeted both parents and students of Lomaivuna Secondary School, who traveled from as far as Natuva and Vatukarasa, in Tailevu, crossing rivers to attend.
Vocational teacher Manasa Radrotini shared how, after the outreach session which ended around 7 pm, he took his students on a one-hour drive to the river where they boarded a small boat for another 30-minute ride back to their village.
“This afternoon after school, I informed the students that the FNU team was coming and asked if they were willing to wait to get first-hand information about joining FNU,” Radrotini said.
“The students did not hesitate because they were eager to learn about the enrolment process and how they can pursue their studies and dreams at FNU.”
Radrotini teaches 18 vocational students, with four focusing on agriculture and 14 specialising in carpentry and joinery.
He highlighted the students’ dedication, saying, “These students leave their homes at 4 am daily to catch the school carrier and ensure they are at school before 8 am. They are hardworking and eager to learn and they hardly miss class despite the challenges they face here in Lomaivuna.”
He thanked the FNU team for reaching out to their community and providing the students with first-hand information about the 2025 enrolment.
“The team shared exactly what our students needed to know, and I am thankful for their efforts,” Radrotini added.
During the outreach, FNU issued over 20 application forms to students and parents eager to secure a place for their children’s education.
