In a heartening initiative, the Fiji National University (FNU) outreach team inspired and empowered 20 single mothers who are part of the Solo Mom’s project in Caubati today.
The session highlighted pathways to further education, equipping the single mothers with essential knowledge to pursue tertiary qualifications and enhance their future prospects.
The single mothers were engaged in dynamic discussions about available short courses at the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) and broader opportunities for higher education at FNU.
This initiative aims not only to provide educational options but also to uplift the aspirations of single mothers looking to transform their lives.

Solo Mom’s Project Training Coordinator, Talei Waqabaca, expressed her gratitude to the FNU team.
“Today’s session was truly an eye-opener for these remarkable women,” said Waqabaca.
“It reignited their motivation and hope to continue their educational journeys, proving that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.”
Among the participants was Kinisimere Bainikalou, a 25-year-old single mother who travels from Nadoi village in Rewa, three times a week to attend training.
“Being a single mother is challenging, but this programme has shown me that education is within reach,” said Bainikalou.
“I am excited to pursue a Trade Diploma in Front Office Administration after completing this training.”
“It’s time to build a better future for myself and my daughter.”
