FNU’s NTPC conducting live Zoom session during the Virtual Open Week.

To ensure prospective students receive correct information and proper guidance relating to the wide range of study opportunities, the Fiji National University (FNU) is hosting several live Zoom sessions this week as part of its Virtual Open Week (VOW).

Today’s live sessions included introductions to FNU’s National Training and Productivity Centre and (NPTC) and College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS). Senior academics presented on the programmes offered by both NTPC and CMNHS as well as highlighting the multiple possible career pathways that students can aspire towards.

Year 12 student of Bhawani Dayal Arya College, Risheek Pratap, highlighted that the sessions were well structured and informative, adding it is a great platform to have his queries answered promptly.

“I have been attending the Zoom sessions where presenters talked about different programmes offered under each College of the University. Having the sessions divided according to the colleges allowed me to learn what College specializes in what programme,” he said.

“It is unfortunate, because of COVID-19, we are not able to visit the University premises to witness first-hand the amazing student practical models and constructions like previous years. Nonetheless, with these live presentations, I can now visualize how the courses are offered and taught at different colleges of FNU throughout the country.”

Pratap said the questions asked during the live sessions also intrigued him to learn more about the University.

“After listening to the career pathways described by the academics, I am now able to relate what programmes are suitable for my career choice.”

“I encourage students to join and listen to the presentations. One of the most important components of the presentation is where the staff explains how to apply online for admission into a programme. This was very detailed and will be of great help while applying online for a place at the University,” he added.

The Virtual Open Week (VOW) will continue until this Friday, 17 September. The week-long online event provides students, parents and guardians with an opportunity to learn about the wide range of study programmes available in Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at FNU, speak with academic experts on career pathways, participate in quizzes and win attractive prizes.

The live Zoom sessions will continue throughout this week as per the schedule below:

  • College of Humanities and Education (CHE), Thursday 16 September – 11am to 12pm
  • College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), Thursday 16 September – 2pm to 3pm
  • Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA), Friday 17 September – 11am to 12 pm

The above sessions will also be broadcasted on the FNU Facebook page and YouTube channel simultaneously.
