Never compete, better yourselves- Honourable Vosarogo

As graduates step into the realm of self-improvement, the path to excellence is not found in competing with others but in the relentless pursuit of personal betterment.

These were the words of advice by the Chief Guest, and the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Honourable Filimoni Vosarogo to the graduates of the final session of the Fiji National University’s December graduation (FNU) today.

FNU’s final session confirmed the graduation of 716 graduates from the College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST), College of Humanities And Education (CHE), Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA), and National Training And Productivity Centre (NTPC) at the Vodafone Arena in Suva this morning.

“Graduates, you want to be better – never compete against others.  Just become better than who you were, yesterday!” Honourable Vasarogo exclaimed.

“You are a beacon of incredible promise that will guide our nation’s future to its limitless possibilities.

“As you step out into the world, be fearless in pursuing your dreams, be resilient in the face of challenges, and be compassionate in your interactions.

“Your education has not only empowered you but has also bestowed upon you the responsibility to make a difference, to your family, community, Fiji and to the world.”

Honourable Vosarogo commended the tireless efforts of the Fiji National University (FNU) in its dedication to shaping young minds and nurturing their talents.

“As the National University of Fiji, FNU has an obligation to fulfil the national and regional demands for a skilled workforce and the University is achieving this through its own learning, teaching and research as well as through regional and global collaborations,” he said.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to the faculty and staff of the Fiji National University. Your dedication to shaping these young minds and nurturing their talents is commendable. Your guidance has been invaluable in shaping these graduates into the accomplished individuals they are today.”

 

FNU Chancellor and Council Chair, Semesa Karavaki congratulated the recently appointed Vice-Chancellor for executing the vision of FNU to ensure to provide the best education to all students and the prospective students of Fiji.

“Every time you face difficulties or challenges, you must remember how far you have come in your academic journey, and we are proud that we the FNU family have transformed you into a better person,” Council Chair stated.

“To the families and friends of the graduands, thank you for your unwavering support. Your encouragement has been a source of strength for these students throughout their academic journey. Today is a celebration of your collective achievement as well.”

Karavaki further commended the support from the Fiji Government, FNU Council, and essential stakeholders.

“FNU remains dedicated to aiding our local, regional, and international students in realising their academic goals.”

National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management graduate, Bulou Alesi Nawalowalo challenged all the female to keep pursuing their dreams with unwavering dedication.

“I am excited and feeling really happy to be finally graduating!” she said.

“FNU is a great university, and I would highly recommend this institution to all who want to further their education.

The 29-year-old originally from Kadavu said her parents have always served as an inspiration to her.

“My parents encouraged me to join this course- they have always been my inspiration.”

A total of 2156 students graduated from the three ceremonies held in Suva this week.
