Timaleti Vunilago Nainoce is grateful to have passed her Year 13 national exams with a mark that allowed her to pursue a profession that will make her parents proud.

The former Sigatoka Methodist College student enrolled into the College of Engineering, Science and Technology’s (CEST) Diploma of Architectural Drafting programme during the Fiji National University’s (FNU) Enrolment Roadshow at the Wishing Well in Sigatoka today.

From Laselase Village in Sigatoka, the 19-year-old chose FNU to further her education.

“FNU offers affordable educational opportunities and I have always wanted to study at FNU as I like it better than any other institution,” she said.

“I have wanted to study a field and become a part of a profession that I can be proud of.”

“Many of my family here in Nadroga are in low-income employment and I want to break that barrier and achieve more in my life.”

“My parents both work in the tourism industry, my mother is currently employed at the Naviti Resort and my father was previously employed at Mango Bay Resort, but now is in Australia.”

“My parents have inspired me all my life as they are my tomorrow; everything that I dream of is because of them. I want to support them and help them in whatever they need.”

“Being the eldest in my family, and with both working parents, I had to look after my seven siblings, and it was hard to find time for my studies.”

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lyn Karstadt also made a surprise visit to the FNU Enrolment Roadshow at the Bus Stand in Nausori.

The FNU Roadshow Teams were in towns and cities across Fiji from Thursday this week.

Prof Karstadt said that she was pleased to see the many eager faces of so many incoming students and was grateful for the opportunity to be able to talk to the students.

“If you are around Viti Levu and have questions about your application or how to enrol for your units – visit our Roadshow teams to sort your Semester 1 studies,” she said.
