TAFE Excellence Award for Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management recipient, Anendra Kumar is grateful to the Fiji National University (FNU) for making him enhance his leadership capabilities.

Among the 63 graduates from FNU’s, National Training and Productivity Centre’s (NTPC) graduation ceremony in December, Kumar enrolled in the Advanced Diploma programme with the aim of advancing his career in the shipping industry.

“This award came as a surprise to me, and I am really honoured to get this surprise excellence award
from all the tutors that have helped in making this dream come true. I am grateful to TAFE for giving me such an
honourary award!” he said.

Working for Oceania Odyssey, a subsidiary of Fiji Shipping, Kumar manages shipping services in Fiji. He  chose the leadership and management programme to fortify his position in the shipping industry, emphasising the desire to maintain and extend his leadership role.

“I chose this programme to build a career in the shipping industry, I want to maintain my leadership and I want to go beyond this, and this course has really helped me in thinking of going ahead.”

The father of two teenagers, who hails from Koronivia in Nausori, draws inspiration from his wife, a high school English teacher, for achieving his leadership aspirations.

“This programme was conducted online, requiring sacrifice of weekends, family and personal time. These sacrifices have paid off, resulting in the prestigious award.”

“FNU as an excellent platform for career development, and I would like to acknowledge the support of my family, colleagues, and lecturers for the encouragement throughout my academic journey.”

The second TAFE Excellence Award in Diploma of IT (Advanced Networking) was awarded to Sunail Sandeep Nair.
