Inoke Verevuni aspires to become a banker and he commenced this journey by enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Information System at the Fiji National University (FNU).

The 19-year-old will pursue the three-year programme through FNU’s College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism (CBHTS).

“Growing up, I felt that a job in the banking industry is a fulfilling choice since bankers play an imperative role by assisting with services such as setting up accounts, authorising loans and providing information to clients on banking services,” said Verevuni.

The newly-enrolled student has already set his priorities right. The former Ratu Kadavulevu High School student wants to ensure that there is no place for procrastination when studies commence come March this year.

“I have pledged myself to attain good results while at the university and I am confident I will accomplish this because at the back of my mind I know I am doing this for my family so that I can provide them with a better life,” he mentioned.

Originally from Quaia in Lami, Verevuni comes from a family of three siblings and he understands his role too well.

“I want to be someone who makes the family proud. I thank the Fiji National University (FNU) for providing me with an opportunity to work towards my career goals. I will work hard to the best of my ability,” mentioned the first-year student.

“I also know that the lecturers at FNU will equip me with everything I need to learn. Some of the things which I look forward to knowing is a good understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, management and cost accounting.”

Verevuni was accompanied by his cousin Esala Cama to the FNU’s enrolment booth in Suva, who described him as an intelligent and diligent man.

“As a family, we are always pleased with Inoke’s academic performances and I am confident that he will do us proud once again when he starts his tertiary studies,” said Cama.

“My sincere gratitude to the staff of the Fiji National University who are based here at the MHCC’s concourse area, for working tirelessly with a lot of patience in trying to assist with the enrolment process for individuals like us to require assistance,” mentioned Cama while describing his enrolment process experience.
