FNU’s Accounting programmes receive re-accreditation from FIA

The Fiji National University (FNU) has attained another milestone as four Accounting programmes offered by the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS) have been awarded a re-accreditation certificate from the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA).

The Bachelor of Commerce (Professional Accounting), Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting major), Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Master of Commerce (Accounting) programmes are designed to provide graduates with conceptual and analytical knowledge, practical skills and in-depth knowledge in the field of accounting.

FNU’s Acting Dean College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), Dr Avanish Shukla said the re-accreditation of these programmes by the FIA is a great achievement for the University and the College will remain committed to high-quality learning and teaching of all programmes.

“The re-accreditation of our programmes by the FIA exemplifies the hard work and continuous delivery of quality learning and teaching, and also indicates the strength and sustainability of our accounting programmes,” stated Dr Shukla.

“Prospective students can be assured that our dynamic programmes offer quality education and employability,” he mentioned.

FNU’s College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), Head of School Sanjay Sharma highlighted that the re-accreditation is in line with the requirements and expectations of the regulatory body of the Accounting profession in Fiji.

“We are extremely proud and elated with this achievement and will continue to strive for excellence in our learning and teaching through local and international recognitions.”

FNU’s College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), Acting Head of Accounting Department Anita Prasad elaborated that the Bachelor of Commerce (Professional Accounting) and Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting major), are three-year full-time programmes with six months of direct industry attachment leading to a provisional membership with the FIA.

“Our Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and the Master of Commerce (Accounting) programmes are one year and two-year full-time programmes respectively which consists of specialised courses which meet the academic requirement of full FIA membership,” she added.

FNU’s College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS) is working towards similar recognitions of their programmes with other reputable professional bodies.
