Representatives of the Fiji National University and Cenderawasih University

Fiji National University (FNU) and Cenderawasih University formalised a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration in relevant areas such as, student exchange, joint research, and a range of educational and cultural initiatives. The signing ceremony took place at the Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) in Suva, Fiji.

This partnership signifies a deepening of ties between the two institutions and creates opportunities for enhanced cooperation to address common challenges while enriching educational experiences for students in Fiji and Indonesia.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba said the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Fiji National University and Cenderawasih University in Indonesia builds a strong bridge between the two institutions.

“We are delighted to formalise this strategic partnership with Cenderawasih University. International collaboration of this nature expands possibilities for our students, providing transformative experiences and enhancing the research capacity of both institutions. Our combined efforts can significantly contribute to knowledge-sharing and innovation,” Professor Nabobo-Baba said.

“This partnership exemplifies the power of international collaboration in addressing global challenges and preparing the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

“Through cooperation, student exchange programmes, joint research, and other mutually beneficial activities, FNU and Cenderawasih University are poised to make a lasting impact on our students, our communities, and the wider region. Let this partnership be a testament to our shared belief in the transformative power of education.”

Cenderwasih University representative Dr Melyana Pugu said the MoU will pave way for the two universities to work together.

“The signing of the MoU is a good opportunity for the University with the guest lectures and seminars,” she said.

“We also have student exchange programmes, and it would strengthen our relationship.”

Both Universities are dedicated to cultivating a partnership that strengthens cultural understanding between Fiji and Indonesia.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the two Universities will span a five-year period with the commitment to ensure the success of the partnership and anticipate significant outcomes that contribute to advancing higher education within the region and internationally.
