FNU launches new medical programmes and short courses

The Fiji National University’s (FNU), College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) has launched four new medical programmes and short courses.

The programmes are Managing Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology cases in Dental Practice, which will be offered online, Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Public Health, Certificate in Health Professions Foundation Studies (Level 4) and Responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the Pacific: Foundation of Health Care Practice.

CMNHS Dean, Dr William May, acknowledged the support from industry stakeholders in develop the programmes.

“I believe the enrichment of the programmes is determined by the industry’s participation. We are here today, and I thank you for your good work when you were consulted for the programmes to be developed enabling us to reach this stage,” Dr May said.

“As a tertiary institute, it is crucial that we engage with our stakeholders before any programme is endorsed. This ensures our students receive relevant and industry-focused learning and teaching that prepares them to be competent graduates contributing to the workforce.”

“One of the new courses, the Certificate in Health Professions Foundation Studies (Level 4) programme, is targeted at Year 13 students who would like to pursue a career in any health-related field.”

Students interested in pursuing a TVET courses at FNU can apply now for one of the 4,600 placements available through the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Services (TSLS).

Eligible students must obtain a pass in Year 12, Certificate I, Certificate II or secure a final offer letter for any Certificate Level III, IV or Diploma level 5 programmes offered at FNU.

FNU is now accepting applications for Semester 1, 2023 studies.

Open Day 2022

Prospective students can also attend the University’s annual Open Day event to learn first-hand of the academic and career pathways they could pursue at the national institution.

The Open Day will be held at the Nasinu Campus, Natabua Campus in Lautoka and Naduna Campus in Labasa on Friday, 21 October and Saturday, 22 October at the Nasinu Campus only.
