The Fiji National University (FNU) 2024 Roadshow will begin at the Max Value Supermarket carpark in Nausori this Saturday, 13 January 2024.

New and returning students, as well as parents and guardians, can visit our booth to receive academic counselling, submit applications, receive information on programme and entry requirements and those eligible can also receive offer letters.

The team will be at the Nausori venue from 9AM to 3PM on Saturday. A nation-wide Roadshow will also commence from next week.

Captain Apenisa Kubuicakau, a recent FNU graduate and proud Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA) alumnus, shared how FNU enabled him to achieve his academic ambitions. His Diploma in Nautical Science (Level 5) is a testament to the dedication and resilience forged in the crucible of the sea.

“Staying away from your home and loved ones is the most difficult thing in the lives of seafarers,” Kubuicaku said.

“The longest I have not seen my family is 18 months, and it was quite a trying time as families are the strength and your pillar of support.”

“I am proud and happy to have graduated after the challenging path of studying and working as I have been doing the programme for the past seven years. I started my career with Captain Cook Cruises, where I worked for four years before joining Interlink.”

The 25-year-old, who is originally from Lau, said he was passionate about serving people, and his seven-year education journey at FNU had been a wonderful experience.

“I am so happy to finally graduate this year! FNU’s staff have been very helpful and are always there to guide us if we come across any obstacles,” he said.

His diploma, a hard-won treasure, is more than just paper. It’s a testament to resilience, a map leading him towards further horizons.

Kubuicakau said he planned to undertake the Watchkeeper course next.
