The Fiji National University (FNU) hosted a Gold Medal and Special Awards function for its December 2021 graduates at the Nasinu Campus to acknowledge their academic achievements.

Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr William May said the eight graduates were commended for navigating and successfully completing their tertiary studies amidst a pandemic.

“Not only did you identify, undergo and successfully complete studies in your field of interest at FNU, but you have also managed to do so at the top of your respective classes in the December 2021 graduating students. This certainly gives you an extra reason to celebrate your graduation,” he said.

“You deserve to celebrate this day as it is a significant step in your education and career progression. It is also a reflection of your years of hard work, dedication, ambition, commitment and sacrifices.”

Dr May said the graduates were now equipped with the skills and knowledge they needed to excel in the workforce, or to embark on entrepreneurial ventures.

He reminded the alumni to display a work ethic that included being honest, punctual and adaptable.

“Be compassionate, kind and always open to learning,” Dr May said.

FNU Registrar Sarita Devi also congratulated the recipients and said they were role models who inspired and motivated the University’s new and continuing students.

“Today is a proud moment for you as you receive your gold medal or special award in the presence of your parents, family and friends,” she said.

Lynett Vinita Reddy said the graduates were grateful to the University’s senior leadership team and the organising committee for recognising and acknowledging their achievements.
