FNU Engages Taveuni Farmers

TAVEUNI, Fiji– The Fiji National University’s (FNU) College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF) is committed to tackling critical issues such as climate change and food security through research and outreach initiatives.

Today, the FNU-CAFF team participated in the Taveuni Farmers Mini Agriculture Show 2024, which started yesterday at the Wairiki Grounds. The team comprises Esava Tabua, Vashnika Narayan, and Aloesi Dakuidreketi, whose involvement underscores CAFF’s dedication to advancing sustainable agriculture and education in Fiji’s thriving agricultural sector.
Visitors to the FNU-CAFF booth were introduced to practical solutions for challenges in farming, fisheries, and forestry. The team highlighted the university’s commitment to empowering communities through education, research, and expertise.

The show provided a platform for meaningful engagement, with the CAFF team exchanging ideas with farmers and agricultural enthusiasts. They also used the opportunity to promote career opportunities in agriculture, encouraging young people to consider this essential sector as a viable career pathway.
“Our presence at the Taveuni Farmers Mini Agriculture Show reflects CAFF’s commitment to supporting Fiji’s agricultural communities,” CAFF Dean, Dr Kaliova Ravuiwasa said.
“By sharing innovative practices and highlighting career opportunities in agriculture, we aim to inspire the next generation of farmers and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to address global challenges such as climate change and food security,” he said.
