The Fiji National University (FNU) continues to engage with community groups to ensure the dissemination of information regarding its TVET and higher education programmes and services.

The University’s Outreach team was recently part of the Vuvale Vunikura Day that was organised by the Suva Community at the Nadera Parish Church.

Event facilitator, Julian Daveta, said the presence of the FNU team at the event made a difference as the team were able to assist people in making informed decisions regarding tertiary studies.

“We acknowledge the support of the Fiji National University as they agreed to come and be part of the fundraising event, where we were raising funds for community work in the village in Vunikura, Cakaudrove,” he said.

“The team had a good outing as they engaged with the families and children at the event. We encouraged everyone present to ask questions on behalf of their children and other families as well as we prepare for the upcoming academic year.”

“We understand the importance of having the right information as the decisions made regarding university studies not only affect the student but also their parents and communities.”

FNU Outreach Specialist, Rusila Uluilakeba said the team ensured that the people were aware of the programmes and courses and other benefits provided, such as the flexible fee payment schemes available and the great student experience offered at FNU campuses.

“The FNU team presented on the significance of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) for the community, emphasising its role in providing villagers with advanced skills in trade fields,” Uluilakeba said.

“The team provided insights into the diverse higher education programmes offered, presenting viable paths for individuals to pursue their academic aspirations. Additionally, the villagers received information on FNU’s flexible financial payment options, aiming to facilitate and support their learning journeys.”

FNU is a dual-sector University, providing both higher education programmes and, simultaneously, offering a spectrum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses and programmes to individuals not only from Fiji but also from across the region.

Outreach Session

The Fiji National University also extends an invitation to communities to connect with them for awareness sessions. Through these sessions, the team can provide in-depth information about educational opportunities, scholarships, and the benefits of pursuing trade and higher education at FNU.
