FMA Moodle Refresher

Posted On: June 25, 2019

Captains from the Fiji Maritime Academy (FMA) under the College of Engineering, Science & Technology (CEST) took time out during the semester break to polish up on their Moodle skills. CFEL offered the refresher workshop for the Captains as a follow up to earlier sessions in the beginning of the semester. This time around they were able to take their time to understand Moodle more as the workshop format was paced throughout the day. Using conditional release activities, Learning Technologist at CFEL, Ralph Buadromo was able to take them at a consistent pace when learning about ‘Resources’ vs. ‘Activities’ in Moodle and the Turnitin assignment submission feature. New Learning Designer to CFEL, Alena Meo was also in attendance to observe how CFEL ran its Moodle workshops for teaching staff. FMA is still in the infancy stages of Moodle use but hoped that more Lecturers/Captains would be able to make full use of Moodle to support and enhance their teaching.  Interest from the staff spanned the various programme disciplines on offer at FMA such as Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Ship building, and Safety and Survival.
