The Fiji National University (FNU) Foundation was launched on the university’s website yesterday, stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity and dedicated to transforming the lives of aspiring underserved students across Fiji.

Through its mission to provide equitable educational access, the Foundation ensures that every student—regardless of background—can achieve their dreams and contribute to a thriving future for the nation.

As the charitable arm of FNU, the Fiji National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba says the Foundation is committed to supporting disadvantaged students by providing essential scholarships, funding innovative research, and supporting vital campus projects.

Professor Nabobo-Baba highlighted that every donation made to the Foundation is an investment in a brighter, more sustainable future, creating pathways for students to overcome barriers and achieve their academic goals. This is to ensure education is accessible.

“With an unwavering commitment to educational excellence, the Foundation forges impactful partnerships and secures philanthropic contributions that align with FNU’s strategic priorities. By bridging gaps in access, the Foundation cultivates an environment of empowerment, where students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to become tomorrow’s leaders,” she said.

Among its key initiatives, the Foundation focuses on programs that directly support students’ well-being, including the Coffee Forward Initiative, which provides students facing food insecurity with free or subsidized meals. Similarly, the Veilomani Closet and Veilomani Food Pantry ensure that students have access to clothing and nourishment, helping them focus on their studies without worrying about their basic needs.

The FNU Foundation is driven by the belief that education is a transformative force. By supporting the Foundation, individuals and organisations can contribute to a future where every student has the resources to succeed and make meaningful contributions to Fiji and the Pacific region.
