Chandra thankful for FNU’s flexible approach to education

The Fiji National University’s (FNU) flexible approach to education has proven beneficial for working students like Shinal Shivani Chandra, who was able to complete her Bachelor in Education (Secondary) (English and Geography) programme online while teaching.

Chandra, who teaches English and Social Science at Holy Family Secondary School in Labasa, commended the University for the provision of flexible learning that allowed her to balance her academic pursuits with work commitments effectively.

“I am very excited and privileged to be an online student and to complete my programme through this mode of learning,” said Chandra.

Chandra progressed to pursue the Bachelor programme offered by FNU’s College of Humanities and Education (CHE) after graduating from the Diploma in Education programme in 2013.

“I am so thankful to this university for the flexible learning opportunity. I was able to teach and study as well.”

Due to a busy schedule, Chandra left Labasa in the hopes of attending CHE’s graduation ceremony in Suva last month. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, she missed out on the ceremony but was able to collect her degree on the day.

Despite the setback, Chandra remained positive, stating she was excited to collect her degree and looked forward to celebrating her achievement with her family when she returned to Labasa.

She plans to enrol in FNU’s Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language this year.

For prospective students, Chandra had this to say: “Work hard and do your best, you can always achieve anything through hard work.”
