MoodleMootAU (Australia) rolled around again! This time the moot was held at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and represented the first attendance of CFEL team members since the Centre’s inception. Associate Dean Flexible & E-Learning, Dr. Valentine Hazelman and Learning Technologist, Ralph Buadromo attended the 3-day event from 1-3 July. The event attracted more than 200 participants from various sectors including: higher education, technical & vocational, high schools, colleges and industry. In addition to the key notes, there were various presentations and interactive focus groups exploring the pedagogical aspects of Moodle and the technical aspects associated with programming, customizations, hosting and maintenance.

A MoodleMoot is a conference dedicated to users, developers and administrators of the very popular open-source learning management system called Moodle, where good practices are shared with insights and tips, and also facilitation of hands-on workshops on the use of Moodle in education, training and research.  As well as sharing new experiences and results through presentations to each other, MoodleMoots are about networking and connecting with other Moodlers.  Dr. Martin Dougiamas, founder of Moodle presented a keynote session on the future of educational technology and plans for the learning management system moving forward, especially with an ever growing community of global users. A priority list of developments were negotiated by the participants in order for Moodle Headquarters to take and prioritize for upcoming release versions of Moodle.
