Blended development workshop for Creative Arts & Ethics

Posted On: May 24, 2019

The Centre for Flexible & E-Learning (CFEL) rolled out its latest round of Blended development workshops with the Creative Arts and Ethics teams from the College of Arts & Humanities (CHE).  The 2-day workshop (23 & 24 May) with 10 participants followed on the heels of similar workshops in December 2018 for the School of Education (SOE) at the Natabua Campus Lautoka, then February 2019 for the School of Communication, Literature & Language (SCLL). Following these workshops, assigned content specialists are tasked with developing their blended courses with the team at CFEL. The Blended development workshops take a closer look at how courses from different specialisations are taught face to face before the concept of blended learning is introduced as a means of understanding the different modes of teaching delivery. Acknowledging a ‘one size does not fit all’ approach, the workshop also covers exploration and curation of Open Educational Resources (OER) and a pragmatic but simple approach to developing engaging multimedia experiences with the learner in mind. The Blended storyboard document is a key component that content specialists use to conceptualise their courses and ultimately this is quality checked against a rubric that happens to be an OER! Also in attendance were new Learning Designers, Ms. Alena Meo and Ms. Flora Bentley who come to the CFEL team with vast experience in course development for flexible learning.
