26/04/2021 Special COVID-19 Advisory (05) for FNU Campus Operations

Dear all,

Following the statement from the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong yesterday Sunday 25.04.21 of 4 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, the University is immediately taking the following actions:

  • All staff should continue to work from home for the next 14 days (26 April to 10 May). This decision may be reviewed in light of changing circumstances. Please contact your supervisor if you are not equipped to work from home.
  • Anyone leaving their home to access essential services as outlined by the Government advisory must wear a face-covering and have the CareFIJI app turned on.
  • All face-to-face teaching and instruction are suspended until 10 May at the earliest, in line with the announcement by the Ministry of Health. FNU is experienced in online teaching and assessment and will move to fully online delivery during the current restrictions. Colleges will contact students with programme-specific information; kindly check your students’ email for any communications from the Colleges.

You are urged to adhere to government guidelines and restrict movements to essential travel only. Please refer to the latest Government advisory below:

Beginning at 4:00 am Monday 26 April (TODAY), for the next 14 days, the greater public will not be allowed in or out of the following containment zones.

Lami – Suva Nausori areas. For a period of 14 days, all exits at the following checkpoints will be closed off, starting from 4 am Monday (TODAY) 26 April: beginning from Wainadoi to Tamavua- I- Wai–Tamavua-I- Wai to 8 Miles bridge, — 8 Miles bridge to Logani Village on Kings Road. Similarly, the Nadi-Lautoka area will be divided into two zones—Nadi Zone will begin from Momi Junction to Lomolomo Police Post and from Lomolomo Police Post to Nacilau.

The previous free movement between Lautoka to Nadi will no longer be allowed for the next 14 days beginning today.
