Dr. Rajnish Sharma, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Auckland, presented a seminar titled “From Wind Effects on Buildings to the Aerodynamics of Small UAVs and More.”
Abstract:
This presentation will highlight the research journey of Dr. Rajnish Sharma, commencing with his early studies on the effects of tropical cyclone winds on buildings, in particular focusing on the unsteady flows and internal pressurization of buildings following the creation of dominant openings (broken windows/doors) due to debris impact. The inverse of the building internal pressure dynamics problem is then introduced, through which Dr. Sharma will show how his earlier research was able to be applied and then diversified into areas such as flow control, thermal management, miniature-scale power generation, and the unsteady aerodynamics of small flyers, among others.
