Enhancing the Climate Resilience of Fiji’s Road Network

The College of Engineering & Technical Vocational Education and Training (CETVET) at Fiji National University (FNU), Fiji, and the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) at Durham University, UK, co-hosted a hybrid workshop on ‘Enhancing the Climate Resilience of Fiji’s Road Network’ on 10 December 2024 from 9 am to 4 pm at FNU, Derrick Campus, Samabula, Suva, Fiji. The aim of this workshop was to bring together experts in road construction and planning in Fiji to discuss the current climate hazards facing the road network to develop actionable solutions to enhance the resilience of Fiji’s road network, ensuring sustainable and reliable transportation for all.

Workshop participants were invited by coordinators at FNU via email. There were 27 in-person participants and 14 online participants representing FNU, Durham University, the University of the South Pacific, Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), consultancies, and contractors.
