It was a proud moment for Tongan officers Taise Manu’atu and Mele Stewart, who both graduated with a Certificate in Correctional Practice (Level 5) from the Fiji National University on Tuesday.

Both work as prison officers at His Majesty’s Prison in Tonga.

The pair arrived in Fiji earlier this year to begin the 14-week course at FNU.

They will now return to their homeland with new skills and valuable experience.

“The lessons we learnt during the 14-week course, and the training we received, are things I will definitely put into practice back in Tonga,” Taise Manu’atu said.

“The course was really an eye-opener for us, and FNU also gave us the chance to build an unforgettable bond with the students we studied with.”
