Remote Village Girl Makes Big Dreams a Reality

It was a proud and emotional day for Alumita Susu and her husband, Mikaele Qeteqete, who journeyed all the way from Lavena in Taveuni to witness their daughter Kelera graduate from the Fiji National University (FNU).

Kelera Qeteqete, a bright young woman from the garden island, is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in English and Fijian.

Her achievement is a milestone not only for her family but also for her entire community, proving that dreams can be realised no matter how remote the roots.

For mother, Alumita, Kelera’s success is a source of immense pride.

“My daughter has made our family proud, and she’s become a shining example for the young girls and women in our village,” she shared.

“Coming from such a remote place, it’s not common for us to witness such accomplishments.

Seeing Kelera graduate today is a truly momentous occasion for me.”

Her father, Mikaele, echoed her sentiments with joy and pride.

“As a father, I always believed in Kelera. She has been hardworking ever since primary school.

It was her dream to become a teacher, and we have supported her every step of the way.

Today, she has shown us that with dedication, anything is possible,” he said.

Today, Kelera Qeteqete is not just a graduate—she is a symbol of hope and determination for her community, proving that even from the most remote corners, dreams can come true.
