Daljeet Singh has made an inspiring return to the Fiji National University (FNU), seven years after first studying here.

This time, he is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Forestry at the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF).

The 27-year-old previously completed a Trade Diploma in Wood Processing and Value Adding at the same campus in 2017.

“I am excited to pursue my long-waited dream,” Singh said. “It’s because of my self-belief and the faith my mother had in me that I decided to come back to FNU.”

Singh worked as a timber sales representative at Vitiana Timbers Fiji Pte Limited after completing his diploma.

“After my Trade Diploma, I had the chance to apply what I learned in the real world,” he explained. “It was important for me as it allowed me to put my knowledge into practice.”

The Koroqaqa lad from Tailevu now aims to upgrade his qualifications because he believes the competition is growing fiercer.

“I want to get a degree because I know it will help me stand out,” Singh said.

“Returning to FNU might be challenging, but I am determined to overcome any obstacles and turn my dream into reality.”
Despite the hurdles, Singh remains optimistic.

“Challenges will bring out the best in me,” he said confidently.

“An advantage I have is my work experience around plants, which will help me in my studies.”

Singh’s journey shows that with faith and hard work; dreams can be realised.
