Teacher Spotlight – Mrs Sokoveti Rasowaqa Vuki.
Originally from Nawaka, Nadi, Mrs Vuki currently teaches Year 7 at Andrews Primary School, bringing with her an impressive 35 years of teaching experience across seven different schools.
Today, she took part in the inaugural In-Service Teachers Science Workshop – a collaboration between the Fiji National University and the @U.S. Embassy – and shared her reflections on the experience.
“Practically, this science workshop is quite interesting, especially when we do hands-on activities. Our lab tour and demonstrations were lively, and the exchange of ideas during group work presentations was engaging. The facilitators were friendly and kept us involved from start to finish.
I strongly feel that children will change their mindset towards science when introduced to new and engaging approaches. This workshop is like a refresher for teachers, providing valuable insights to take back to our schools. Many primary schools do not have science labs, so this has been a real eye-opener for most of us.”
FNU congratulates Mrs Vuki and all participating teachers for their dedication to enhancing science education in Fiji’s primary schools.
