Brief Biography:

Shabnam Sazma Bano is a dedicated academic currently serving as a Lecturer in Economics at Fiji National University, Namaka Campus. She holds a Master’s in Commerce (Economics), a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics, a Diploma in Tertiary Teaching, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Economics. She is presently pursuing her PhD in Economics from the University of the South Pacific. Her key research interests include gender issues, women’s empowerment, economic development, social issues and policy formulation.

Shabnam is a published researcher with contributions to international journals and conferences and has reviewed numerous academic articles. She is known for her leadership, effective communication, and time management skills, and is passionate about quality education, student success and meaningful community engagement. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, she actively contributes to curriculum development, teaching, and research in higher education. Shabnam aspires to be a transformative educator who empowers students through inclusive, research-informed, and socially responsive tertiary teaching.
