Joseph Hill Tiko Mai NZ Mauitoga is a Senior Instructor in Border Management & Security at Fiji National University, with a distinguished career spanning over 30 years across diverse fields including Maritime, Customs – Border Management, Enforcement, Trade Compliance, and Tourism – inbound and outbound operations. His professional journey bridges operational & technical expertise and academic excellence, enabling him to deliver training that is both practically grounded and strategically informed.

Joseph is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of Customs, Border Management, and Security professionals in Fiji and the broader Pacific region. Guided by his personal motto—“Always be willing to learn, unlearn, and re-learn”—he embraces adaptability in the face of evolving border security challenges. In his role, he develops and delivers programs that blend policy, theory, and real-world application, ensuring graduates are equipped to manage trade, travel, and security in a complex global environment.
